What Are MSNL Exclusive Strains?

MSNL exclusive strains are cannabis genetics developed specifically for our collection and unavailable from other seed banks. They include strains created through our own breeding projects as well as collaborations where we combine MSNL genetics with genetic lines supplied by breeders we work with.

This allows us to develop strains with a clear purpose rather than simply adding another version of an existing variety to the catalog.

How We Develop Exclusive Cannabis Genetics

There isn't one single way an MSNL exclusive strain is created.

We carry out our own breeding projects and evaluate new genetics first-hand, while also working with a network of established cannabis breeders who bring specialist knowledge and genetic lines of their own.

Some strains are developed entirely through our own breeding work, while others bring together genetics and experience from MSNL and one of our breeding partners.

Exclusive Breeder Collaborations

Working with other breeders gives us access to genetic lines and experience that can be particularly valuable when developing a new strain.

Alien Mango Cookies is one example. When we wanted to cross our Alien OG genetics with Mango, we worked with KC Brains, who originally bred Mango in 1991. We provided our Alien OG genetics and KC provided his original Mango line, which were brought together to create Alien Mango Cookies exclusively for MSNL.

For autoflower projects, we've also worked with specialist autoflower breeders, allowing us to draw on experience specifically with ruderalis and automatic-flowering genetics.

Exclusive Strains Bred by MSNL

We also develop our own cannabis genetics through our breeding and testing work.

Growing and evaluating the plants ourselves allows us to assess characteristics such as plant structure, growth rate, flowering behavior, phenotype expression, consistency and difficulty level.

This first-hand evaluation helps us decide whether new genetics are ready to become part of the MSNL collection.

How Do Exclusive Strains Differ From the Rest of Our Collection?

Not every cannabis strain needs to be exclusive to be worth growing. Our wider collection includes established classics and well-known genetic lines that growers actively look for.

The difference with this collection is exclusivity rather than quality. These strains have been developed specifically for MSNL, giving you access to genetic combinations and MSNL-bred varieties that aren't available elsewhere.

Regardless of where a strain originates, the seeds we sell are subject to our quality-control process.

Tested Before We Put the MSNL Name Behind Them

Developing a new strain is only part of the process. We also want to see how the genetics perform for ourselves.

Depending on the genetics, our evaluation can include growing plants and assessing characteristics that can't be determined by inspecting the seed alone. Our wider seed quality-control process includes in-house batch germination testing, feminization testing and independent laboratory testing on representative samples.
